A Hospice care team delivers care to patients as needed. Team members include:
- Nurses who are specifically trained in pain/symptom management and in the care of patients with a limited life expectancy. In addition to home visits, emergency calls are answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Personal Care Aides who attend to such tasks as bathing, personal hygiene, and assistance with homemaker services.
- Social Workers and Counselors who assist patients and families with emotional concerns and connect them to additional community resources.
- Chaplains who offer pastoral care and comfort.
- Volunteers who are trained by medical and social service professionals to comfort and assist families in a variety of ways.
- Hospice Physicians who are available to make home visits and help the team provide an optimum level of care. The patient's personal physician is a vital part of the Lighthouse Hospice team and continues to direct the patient's medical care.
